Abbey Falls is at a short distance from Madikeri Town.
Its a short but majestic fall cascading down the face of a rugged rocky outcrop. The fall is located in the borders of a private coffee plantation. The added attraction is the short but exhausting trek from where the road ends to the Abbey Fall site.
Monsoon rains makes the fall more dramatic. During the summer season the water flow is considerably low with most of the rocky river bed exposed. There is a signboard that warns against getting in the water.
Further to the fall, the streams joins to make the larger part of the Kaveri River.
You can watch the fall up close from a suspension bridge that hangs across the fall. You need to have a private vehicle to reach the site. It’s about 5km north of the Madikeri town.
